Oya
Oya is the bringer of change and runner of the winds and storms. She fights with Shango in battles. She is sometimes called the Lady of the Cemetery , since she guards the gates and makes sure the boundaries of life and death are respected. She wears a full skirt made of nine different cloths. Her movements are violent, tornadoes are caused by her many whirls. She lives in a porcelain sopera, which has nine different colors. She dances with a whip made out of horses hair. Her dance is quick and fentric. She is the Virgin of Carmen.
Oya loves war and is accompanied by Shango many times. She fights with the spirits and holds two swords.

Her favorite number is 9 and her initiates wear 9 coppers made out of copper. Her favorite foods include eggplants and black eyed peas, especially grapes. The rainbow is said to belong to her. She is the patroness of the marketplace and her offerings are left there. Her Eleke are made of alternating red and brown beads. Oya's day is Friday and her feast day is February 2.
